Peter is a Senior Research Fellow at the Institute of Public Affairs and is leading the Project for Real Science.

Peter is a former Professor and Head of Physics (2009-2016) at James Cook University (Townsville). His consultancy work while at the university resulted in the development of specialist instrumentation for measuring aspects of water quality, with the profits used to fund student scholarships and research projects.

Peter has published more than 100 papers in international science journals and supervised many successful PhD students. His most recent book is Reef Heresy? Science, Research and the Great Barrier Reef (Connor Court, 2020)
